BGF Members Bag WABMA Scholarships

The West Africa Broadcast and Media Academy (WABMA), a leading media training institution in Africa, has awarded scholarships to three members of the Broadcasters Global Forum (BGF).

The award, the second of its kind, is a 50 percent co-pay scholarship to enable the recipients to undergo hands-on training in courses of their choice at the WABMA Academy’s training centres in Lagos and Abuja over a period of 5 weeks.

BGF is a virtual forum comprising veteran and practising media professionals across a dozen countries joined by a common vision of enhancing broadcasting/media standards globally.

Members of the group have provided the counterpart funding of 50 percent to make the scholarship, valued at Fifty Thousand Naira (N50, 000.00) per course participant, fully paid.

The BGF-nominated beneficiaries, all from the Voice of Nigeria, are:

Airat Oluwatoyin Abdul Rahmon

Florence Adidi

Margaret Ebeshi

In the scholarship notification letter signed by WABMA Registrar Joseph Obari, Esq, the Rector, Mr Ken Ike Okere, immediate past Director, National Broadcast Academy, formerly FRCN Training School Lagos, who has a passion for professional training and human resource development, said the scholarships were “in recognition of the recipients’ interest in and contributions to the learning activities of BGF”.

Mr Okere, also a BGF member, has a passion for training and human resource development

Last year, WABMA awarded another BGF member, Sandra Udeike of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, a full scholarship to its 2023 Masterclass In Presentation And Public Speaking.
